Victor Rolando, an industrial archeologist, holds examples of iron ore and slag outside the Shaftsbury Historical Society Museum on Route 7A. Rolando will speak about a local iron works when the society holds its annual meeting Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. The public is invited.

Several patriots, as well as Hessians who fought on behalf of the British, are buried in the Bennington Centre Cemetery beside the Old First Church in Old Bennington. The battle took place Aug. 16, 1777.
