Winter Warmers For A Good Cause

  • Judy Brownell, the owner of Curves in Bennington, stands beside a tree decorated with hats, mittens and scarves donated by her customers. The winter warmers will be distributed to needy children and adults by BROC — Community Action in Southwestern Vermont. Donations will be accepted by Curves, 748 Main St., through Saturday. Brownell said one woman brought in 23 pairs of mittens that she and her family had knit. “Especially during these hard times, it’s amazing we have so many,” Brownell said.

Peter Rubin, who survived a fiery car crash last year, made an appearance. Jonathan Bombard, owner of the pub, was among those who pulled Rubin from the wreckage.
